Frequently Asked Questions

  • Lifestyle photography sits somewhere between documentary style and classic portrait photography. You can expect some gentle guidance on posing but it’s more about capturing those candid moments where you are engaging with each other and not with the camera. So, ‘rural lifestyle’ means fun on the farm or in a rural environment.

  • No! Absolutely not!
The beauty of lifestyle photography is that it can happen anywhere. We live in a fantastic area with lots of beaches, forests and gardens to choose from. I like to use the natural environment to enhance your images, plus it gives lots of opportunities for young ones to be free, like climbing trees, playing with pets or running in paddocks. When the kids are having fun, everyone is happy!

  • I am a natural light photographer, so that means the time just after sunrise, or the time just before sunset, (those lovely golden hours) are the most ideal times to flatter and create warmth in our images.

Having said that, those times are not always practical when you have young children.

Actually, my favourite seasons to photograph are Autumn, Winter and Spring because the days are shorter so we can shoot earlier, there is generally cloud cover to tame the afternoon light, and who doesn’t love to layer?

  • Yes please! As a self confessed animal lover I will always encourage you to include your pets in your sessions.

Just check with me beforehand and we’ll make sure our location is pet friendly. I really believe in expressing the love we have for our animals and capturing the love they show us in return.

  • Yes, within reason. I have to work around family and farm so I am willing to travel a certain distance. Just get in touch and we’ll talk about it.

  • Here’s a few tips:

    • Dress for the season

    • Dress for the location

    • Compliment - (don’t match unintentionally)

    • Wear something comfortable that you feel like yourself in

    • Natural fibres and earthy colours look amazing in most settings

    • Avoid large prints, logos, and patterns

    • Throw some accessories like a hat or jacket, or oversized cardigan into your bag to add layers.

  • You will receive your images via an online gallery. Within this platform, you can favourite, download, Buy All, and even order prints through a professional printer delivered to your door. I usually say that your gallery will arrive within 2 weeks of your photoshoot but it’s generally before then.

  • Loads! It depends on our time together but usually a full gallery will include 60 - 100 images.

I understand that photos are a significant investment and that’s why each package comes with a specific amount of downloads included in the one off purchase price. Would l like everyone to upgrade to the full gallery of images?

Of course I would, but we all have our price point. I’d like every family to be able to go away with beautiful images that they can treasure forever, regardless of their budget.

So, I give you the choice to just stick with your included number of images, or upgrade to the full gallery, depending on what you’re comfortable to spend.

  • I will constantly have my eye on the weather forecast and will keep in touch with you as our session gets closer. A little bit of light drizzle never hurt anyone but if we need to reschedule, we will. If you are not feeling well, please let me know and we will make another time.

  • Yes I do.

  • Absolutely! I’m a teacher and I volunteer in my son’s school. I’ve been working with kids all my life!

  • Your online gallery will include access to Aitkins Pro Lab; a professional printer used predominantly by photographers to offer their clients beautiful bespoke products. You can trust that your photos will be of the highest quality, which is important if you want to blow them up and frame them for display.
